Default Grattan Raceway track day 7/19/06

<center><img src="http://grattanraceway.com/grattan.gif"></center><p>
I'm putting on a track day at www.grattanraceway.com just outside of Grand Rapids Michigan and I'm looking for any takers. Weds, July 19th. Cost is $175 per vehicle for the day. Track walk and instruction is strongly recommended and available for those who need it (aka newbies) @ 9:00am, and plenty of track time for those who dont until 5:00pm. With these track days of mine, I run with NO run groups. Just an open track with easy rules on passing, and pitting. Helmets are required.

If you're interested, please email me. Legato@dtwaudi.com

Default Wouldn't touch that one for the world...Enter at your own risk...

Sorry, I don't know you but would recommend anyone to stay away from an open track day like this one. The thought you'd allow "newbie" at a track day with no instructors is appalling.

Good luck...

Default Re: And for those of us who know how to read...

If you re-read the post, you'd see that I mentioned that there is a track walk, and instructors for those who need it. Namely NEWBIES. Thanks for playing though.

Default I read OK...

"instruction is strongly recommended and available for those who need it (aka newbies)"

"Recommended" and "required" are two different things. If I misread...my applogies. Is this affiliated with any sanctioned training organization? So far, my comments still stand...

Default Available training

Yes, certified training is available (for those who need it) in the form of multiple professional drivers. One of my instructors is an active rally driver and was the 1992 SCCA Pro Rally Champ , while another is an active competitor and instructor @ Mid Ohio who's raced everything under the sun from Spec Miata to Champ car.

This is the 7th day of this caliber that I've put on without incident between Waterford Hills, Grattan, and Gingerman in the past two years. We're in conjunction with the Michigan Chapter of ACNA via www.dtwaudi.com, but this is still an independant function put on by those who normally instruct at sanctioned events. (ex. ESI, Mid Ohio, Skip Barber, ect...)

So can I have my track day now, or does the state of Kansas still have reason to object? If so, I'd appreciate you not knocking one of my track days that you've never been to, or are likely to attend simply for the interpreted sake of arguement.

Default Re: Street racing?

This is a lapping day with instruction. No racing is permitted. This is the exact same format as any ACNA day. Only without the wait between run groups.

Default Nonsense

I have attended these events and they are very professional.

The event begins with a track walk with an instructor. This is not a competitive event but an instructive event.

There are rules on the track, for grattan point to pass and no passing except on the straight.

You are not allowed to pressure slower drivers etc. Its a well organized event and a chance to learn more about driving and your car.

Ride alongs with instructors are very valuable experiences.

In my opion there are enough instructors on hand to ensure adequate supervision.

Default Thank you Michael Schumaker

I've been to many of these events as well as other track events put on by different groups. This even couldn't be further from wreckless. Please don't judge if you don't know. If you don't want to attend, don't! If you're looking for a great event, put on by great people, this is it!
