Default How to remove ignition key cylinder?

So, since my ignition key cylinder broke, I have been trying to figure out how in the world I am to remove the ignition cylinder from the dashboard! If anyone can tell me how I would greatly appreciate it. I purchased a new cylinder, and keyset, and now I just have to put it in so I can get my radio back and dont have to start my car with a screwdriver.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? I searched, but all I can find is replacing the electrical part of the ignition switch, and not the key/tumblers/cylinder

I just did this last weekend, really easy.
Remove the lower dash piece under the steering column. Remove the cover around the steering column (2 screws), you will see 2 screws holding the instrument cluster in place, remove and pull out cluster, disconnect wiring. You will now be able to see the top of the cylinder.
On the left and right you should see red paint covering 2 flat head type screws holding the cylinder in place, use a small screw driver to loosen the screw and the cylinder will slide out. Disconnect, replace, reverse the process. 10 mins max.

That's for the electronic portion only.

Default Look at the new cylinder.

Does it have a little spring tab on the side to lock it in? (I have no idea what year and model you have). If it has the tab, you'll need to locate the spot on the aluminum housing in the car where that tab should be on the old switch. Drill a 1/8 hole in the aluminum and use a small screw driver to depress the tab. Pop the cylinder out.

Default Um yeah. I really don't like those setups.

What does this have to do with the lock cylinder?
